About ICCWS

Brock University will host the 10th International Cool Climate Wine Symposium from July 17 to 21, 2022 in St. Catharines, Ontario.

With ever-changing conditions within the grape and wine sectors – including fluctuations in consumer preferences, global economics and fragile ecosystems – the research community must be nimble at responding to challenges in order to sustain their industries and support growth. The ICCWS 2022 symposium will include several days of rigorous and diverse scientific content on these topics, providing the most up-to-date advances in these fields from the foremost experts in viticulture, oenology, wine business and sustainability.

The programming of the conference is has been developed by Brock’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute and its partners to examine how adversity drives innovation to achieve success across the entire value chain of the grape and wine industry. It is from these challenges that new opportunities arise to strengthen the place of cool climate wines in the international market.

Our conference will provide the opportunity to taste and learn about cool climate regions around the world.

Integrated within this conference are networking events, opportunities to explore the host city and learn more about Canada’s wine regions as a whole. ICCWS delegates will be invited, through pre-and-post conference programming and excursions, to visit and learn more about our diverse wine producing regions in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Quebec.

ICCWS Comes to Canada

The announcement that Canada will be the next host country for the ICCWS was made Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the ninth ICCWS conference in Brighton, United Kingdom.

The ICCWS is held every four years, and 2022 will mark the first time the prestigious conference has come to Canada. Previous sites have included Tasmania, Seattle and Brighton.

Canada was one of four countries seeking to host the 2022 event, alongside Australia, New Zealand and Chile.
